Areekode Block Panchayat – Administrative Structure
The Areekode Block Panchayat is a block-level panchayat functioning as part of Kerala's local self-government system. Its jurisdiction comprises eight Grama Panchayats: Areekode, Cheekode, Edavanna, Kavannur, Keezhuparamba, Kuzhimanna, Pulpatta, and Urangattiri.
Administration
The administrative system of the Block Panchayat operates primarily at two levels:
- Elected Governing Body
The Block Panchayat President serves as the head of the governing body. The Vice President discharges the President's duties in the latter's absence. In accordance with the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act, the administrative decisions and development activities of the Panchayat are implemented through the governing body.
- Standing Committees
The following standing committees primarily function within the Block Panchayat:
Finance Standing Committee – Budget, accounts, financial matters, general administration, etc.
Development Standing Committee – Development planning, agriculture, animal husbandry, small-scale industries, public works, housing, minor irrigation, etc.
Welfare Standing Committee – Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe development, women and child development, social welfare, public health, education, environment, etc.

- Administrative System
