As part of efforts to invigorate the state government's waste management initiatives, the Areakode Block Panchayat, in collaboration with KILA, organized a two-day training program on 'Solid Waste Management 2026' for elected representatives from the Block Panchayat and the eight panchayats falling under its jurisdiction. On the first day (September 22, 2026), Block Panchayat President Smt. Aisha K.T. inaugurated the session, with Block Panchayat Vice President C.T. Abdurahiman presiding; BDO Shaju K.S. delivered the welcome address. Various experts conducted sessions covering a wide range of topics. The valedictory function on September 23, 2026, was inaugurated by the Honorable Malappuram District Panchayat President, P.A. Jabbar Haji. In his address, the District Panchayat President emphasized the crucial role elected representatives must play in waste management and urged local self-government institutions to pay special attention to this sector. Areakode Block Panchayat President Smt. Aisha K.T. presided over the closing ceremony. Block Panchayat Vice President C.T. Abdurahiman, various Grama Panchayat Presidents, and elected representatives from both Grama and Block Panchayats were present at the event. The poster for the ‘Kaiyodu Kai’ campaign—implemented in collaboration with the State Government’s Suchitwa Mission—was released. Block Panchayat General Extension Officer Mr. Shihabuddin delivered the vote of thanks.
